Goodyear India, one of the leading tyre manufacturers in the country, has reported its financial results for Q2 FY2025.
For the quarter, the company reported revenue of INR 6,870 million, down one percent YoY, and profit before tax of INR 210 million, a drop of 58 percent YoY, compared to INR 510 million last year. The company attributed the decline to the reduction in volume, raw material inflation, and EPR.
On the other hand, for H1 FY2025, the company’s revenue came at INR 13,820 million, a drop of three percent YoY; profit before tax came at INR 550 million as against INR 1,030 million for the same period last year, a decline of 47 percent.
The tyre major attributed that the earnings were under pressure on the back of lower volume and raw material inflation.
Sandeep Mahajan, Chairman & MD, Goodyear India said, “Our company continues to enjoy significant market share with farm OEMs. The farm industry has seen modest recovery after facing a downturn in the previous financial year. With an above-normal monsoon this year and a promising outlook for the Rabi season supported by hike in Minimum Support Prices (MSP), we expect continued growth in the rural economy over the coming quarters.”
“In the consumer replacement business, we are strategically repositioning our brand in the premium segment with a focus on luxury, SUV, and EV. This is being done through new product launches by leveraging our global product portfolio, together with calibrated pricing action in the market,” he added.
As of 30 September, 2024, the company had cash and bank balance of INR 1,980 million compared to INR 1,240 million as of 31 March, 2024.
