NEXEN TIRE has been distinguished as a finalist in two categories at the prestigious 2025 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA). The company earned this recognition for its visionary concept tyres, NEXIST and CELLEXIS, which were developed to address the complex transportation challenges of future megacities. The IDEA awards, hosted by the Industrial Designers Society of America, are globally renowned for honouring superior achievement in design innovation, aesthetic appeal, user benefit and societal value.

The NEXIST concept is engineered for a future of urban air mobility, anticipating a landscape where traditional road space is scarce. It is designed as a lightweight, high-performance component for fully autonomous vehicles capable of vertical take-off, utilising advanced carbon composites while retaining the familiar form of a tyre. The second concept, CELLEXIS, reimagines public transport with a modular system inspired by the efficiency of a red blood cell. Its unique spherical structure, equipped with multi-directional omni wheels, functions simultaneously as the tyre, a docking mechanism and a passenger entry point, aiming to streamline urban transit and lessen reliance on private cars.

These projects are the result of a collaboration with the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, an agency of South Korea's Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. For NEXEN TIRE, such concept tyres are a critical platform for demonstrating technological leadership, design philosophy and a commitment to sustainable mobility. This accolade marks the third recent year the company has been honoured with an IDEA award, following wins in 2022 and 2023, highlighting a sustained commitment to pioneering design.

This latest achievement is part of a broader pattern of international recognition for NEXEN TIRE in 2025. The company also secured a Red Dot Design Award for its Winguard Sport 3 tyre and a North American Green Good Design Award for its N’FERA Sport R and N’BLUE 4Season 2 models, collectively affirming its growing stature and competitive edge in the realm of innovative and environmentally conscious design.

CEAT Kelani Holdings emerged as a standout performer at the 2026 Best Management Practices Company Awards of the Institute of Chartered Professional Managers of Sri Lanka (CPM Sri Lanka), securing the overall Gold award for Best Management Practices. This improvement was driven by a structured Quality Improvement Project involving cross-functional teams from Technical Services, Supply Chain and Distribution, supported by digital integration and process enhancements.

The revamped claim settlement system has not only bolstered customer confidence and dealer trust but has also contributed to volume growth, particularly in the Truck and Light Truck segments. Dadlani emphasised that the QBM approach has been instrumental in steering the company towards greater customer centricity while maintaining strong financial results, with continuous improvement through digital transformation and employee engagement remaining central to the corporate strategy. This consistent recognition by CPM reflects the sustained depth and continuity of the company’s management practices over time.

The organisers of the International Rubber Conference 2026 have opened exhibitor applications for the accompanying Rubber & Elastomer Technical Exhibition, with discounted early-bird rates available until 30 April 2026.

The conference will take place from 2 to 6 November at the Aichi International Exhibition Center (Aichi Sky Expo), bringing together global scientists, engineers and industry stakeholders working across rubber and elastomer technologies.

Exhibitors submitting applications by the April deadline will benefit from reduced participation fees. The final deadline for regular applications is 15 July 2026.

Held alongside the conference from 3 to 6 November, the exhibition is expected to attract more than 4,500 visitors and is regarded as one of the leading international platforms for showcasing advances in rubber science, materials engineering and industrial applications.

IRC 2026 marks the sixth edition hosted in Japan, following previous conferences in Tokyo, Kyoto, Kobe, Yokohama and Kitakyushu. Under the theme “Future Rubber Technology toward Sustainability”, the event aims to address evolving industry demands, particularly as Asia accounts for a growing share of global rubber production and consumption.

Organisers said the event will provide a platform not only for established players but also for emerging engineers and researchers to engage with international experts, fostering collaboration and technological advancement across the sector.
