New Appointments at Scandinavian Enviro Systems

Scandinavian Enviro Systems has recently appointed Björn Larsson as the Head of Strategic Purchasing and Josefin Wallman as the Program Manager. Larsson and Wallman will play pivotal roles in the company’s management group and contribute significantly to the execution of the expansion plan that Enviro and Antin Infrastructure Partners previously announced.

As the Head of Strategic Purchasing, Larsson’s primary responsibility will be overseeing the procurement process for new recycling plants. This role encompasses coordinating the establishment of the plants and managing the acquisition of related equipment. A key focus of Larsson’s position will be leading a newly established team of commodity managers.

As the Program Manager, Wallman has been entrusted with the crucial task of managing projects related to the establishment of recycling plants, particularly the Uddevalla plant, which is intended to be the first plant developed under the collaboration between Enviro and Antin Infrastructure Partners. This joint venture, supported by Michelin, has ambitious plans to establish recycling facilities across Europe by 2030, with a collective capacity of recycling up to one million metric tons of end-of-life tyres annually. Upon the successful launch of the Uddevalla plant, the implementation of the broader expansion plan will gain momentum.

The preparations for upcoming investment decisions have been extensive within the Enviro and Antin joint venture. Aiming to ensure the soundness of investment choices, the venture has engaged in comprehensive groundwork ahead of the definitive decision on the Uddevalla plant. The venture’s inaugural Board meeting is scheduled for June this year, and throughout the summer, Enviro and Antin will diligently finalize the necessary documentation to support the impending decision.

“Antin is a leading European infrastructure investor and has extensive experience building stable business models that are attractive over the long term. However, as a major player in one of the most interesting investment segments, Antin sets clear requirements for all decision-supporting documentation, resulting in considerably more extensive preparatory work than we had anticipated. This is the reason why we have been unable to start construction in Uddevalla in line with our previous statements,” says Alf Blomqvist, Chairman of the Board of Enviro.

Björn Larsson brings over 25 years of experience in various high-tech industries, including automotive, aviation, maritime, and rail. His background encompasses numerous leadership roles in purchasing. His educational background includes a degree in international economics, complemented by post-graduate training in management and product development.

Josefin Wallman, on the other hand, transitions from her role at Elof Hansson International Trading House, where she held prominent global positions in project management and business development, including serving as a business area manager. Her academic qualifications include a M.Sc. in Chemical Engineering from Lund University’s Faculty of Engineering.

        Kumho Tire Vietnam To Expand Investment Project In Binh Duong Province

        Kumho Tire Vietnam Co., Ltd. is all set to expand its investment project in Binh Duong province of Vietnam, with the phase 3 of expansion commencing in early 2025. This was discussed at a recent meeting between Vo Van Minh, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (PPC), and Kim Hyun Ho, General Director of Kumho Tire Vietnam Co., Ltd.

        The meeting was held on 13 November at the Administrative Centre of Binh Duong province, as per an official statement. Apart from the company’s investment till date and the planned investment for phase 3, the two also discussed about the challenges and obstacles regarding procedures and processes to have more land funds to expand the manufacturing plant, along with taking measures to tackle the obstacles. Kim Hyun Ho also conveyed to the PPC Chairman that Kumho Tire Vietnam Co., Ltd. belongs to South Korea's Kumho Tire Group and is currently ranked 10th in the car tyre manufacturing industry.

        The company had invested in a tyre manufacturing plant in My Phuoc 3 Industrial Park in 2007 with a total initial investment of USD 308 million, which was supplemented by another USD 300 million in 2021. This extended the factory scale to six hectares and increased the production capacity to 12.5 million tyres annually. With the expansion in early 2025, the company will raise its total investment to USD 908 million and increase the factory's production capacity to 17 million tyres annually. The expanded capacity is expected to be operational by early 2026.
