Nokian Tyres has expanded to round the clock production at its Dayton, Tennessee factory.
The company has added a fourth production shift by hiring around 150 members since the start of 2021 to achieve 24/7 production at the factory. The addition of the fourth shift is in line with the company's long-term plans to manufacture four million tyres annually and employ up to 400 workers once the facility reaches total capacity.
In addition to expanding production, the facility also received ISO 14001 certification, validating the plant's strict environmental standards. It is also the only tyre production facility in the world to hold a LEED v4 Silver certification.
Talking about the production expansion, David Korda, Operations Director, Dayton Factory, said, "Adding third and fourth production shifts allows us to keep pace with production goals that will help us grow our presence in North America. We're pleased with the quantity and quality of workers we've added this year, and we're eager to help them thrive as our company grows."
Commenting on the ISO 14001 certification, Darren Bakkestuen, Environmental, Health and Safety Manager, Dayton Factory, said, "ISO 14001 certification is another testament to the fact that we are one of the most sustainable tyre manufacturers in the world. It's pretty rare that we got through the assessment without any major findings." (TT)

WACKER Announces Price Hike For Resins, Dispersions And Dispersible Polymer Powders
- By TT News
- May 22, 2026
German chemical group WACKER has announced a price increase of up to 15 percent for its resins, dispersions and dispersible polymer powders produced at its European and US facilities. The adjustment takes effect on 1 June 2026, or as existing customer contracts permit. The move is designed to allow the company’s Polymers division to maintain high product quality, deliver technological innovations and provide superior customer service and technical support. It will also support investments aimed at securing future growth in key markets.
Rising costs for raw materials and logistics have forced the pricing measure, with the Polymers division being particularly affected. The recent conflict in the Middle East has caused significant disruptions across global commodity markets. As a direct result, prices for energy, raw materials and transportation have climbed sharply.
Despite the increase, WACKER remains focused on sustaining its commitment to customer support and long-term capability. The company underscored that the adjustment is necessary to continue meeting market demands while ensuring operational stability and future-oriented development across its focus markets.
